About St. Augustine

St. Augustine, Florida, is an incredible city abundant in history and culture. Founded by Spanish explorer Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the United States! What many people don't know is that St. Augustine used to be the capital of Florida. With its charming streets, beautiful beaches, and fascinating historical sites like the Pirate Museum, there is no shortage of things to see and do in this beautiful city.

One of the top things to see in St. Augustine is the Castillo de San Marcos. This 17th-century Spanish fortress is the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States! It offers absolutely stunning views of the city and the Matanzas Bay. We take visitors on guided tours of the fort and learn about its history, including its role in the American Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Another must-see attraction in St. Augustine is the Old Town. This charming historic district is home to many of the city's most famous landmarks, including the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, the oldest Catholic parish in the United States. Don't forget you can climb 165 feet to reach the top of the infamous St. Augustine Lighthouse and also visit its Maritime Museum!
